Winters Health Care Foundation, Inc.

Children

WHF is committed to ensuring that all children in the Winters community have access to the best in medical and dental care. Our healthcare staff follows the latest protocols to conduct physical exams, eye, ear and dental screenings and development assessments at each patient visit and we remind parents about the importance of maintaining preventive health care visits and immunizations.

Child immunizations are tracked through our computerized records system and WHF is a participant in the "Shots for Tots" regional immunization registry (including the new HPV vaccine). We can also assist parents on eligibility and applications for Medi-Cal and SCHIP benefits.

At WHF, we are committed to children and youth in the clinic as well as in the community. As part of our commitment, we:

  • Make every effort to ensure Winters Healthcare is a "child-friendly" atmosphere and strive to have each visit be a good experience.
  • Recognize the importance of respecting family values and working together with parents to maintain the health of their children.
  • Participate in many health education and outreach activities.

Free dental assessment

  • · Every year in November, on Fridays, we provide free oral health assessment for children starting school the next year. A new state law requires that each child entering the public school system for the first time must have a "dental check-up" by a dental professional by May 31st of the first school year. Dental assessments are not cleanings or routine dental care. They are a measure of the child's current oral health.
