Adolescents

WHF cares for the health of young people in the Winters community. Our medical providers work closely with families and area schools on health issues and wellness education. For youth participating in school or after-school athletic programs, we offer sports physicals.

WHF medical providers develop a comprehensive history, exam, and assessment for behavioral risks and oral health needs for adolescents. We offer family planning, mental health/substance abuse assessment and communicable disease services. We encourage adolescents to continue making appointments medical and dental appointments and also help educate patients on methods and treatments they can count on finding at WHF.

WHF relies on peer education to improve the health of our adolescent community. We cultivate relationships with schools and youth serving agencies, along with Spanish-language outreach through our Promotora program, to provide teen-specific education regarding drug use, STD prevention and pregnancy prevention.
